Indian Oil is looking for energetic and dedicated Graduate Engineers with a bright academic record to join Organization as Engineers/Officers(DPE Pay Scale: E2 Level) from the following Disciplines:

a.Chemical Engineering
b.Civil Engineering
c.Electrical Engineering
d.Mechanical Engineering

Additionally, the selection of few candidates from the above disciplines shall also be done for engagement as Graduate Apprentice Engineers (GAEs)in line with the Apprenticeship Act, 1961(and subsequent amendments thereafter). GAEs are offered a lump-sum monthly stipend for a period of one year and on the basis of their satisfactory performance during the apprenticeship period, they may be absorbed in the Corporation.
Recruitment to the above-mentioned positions will be through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE–2020).
The candidates can be posted anywhere in India or abroad depending upon the requirements of the Corporation.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates meeting eligibility criteria as below may apply for the advertised positions.

Who can Apply:
  • Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.
  • Interested candidates having required educational qualification, valid GATE 2020 marks and meeting eligibility criteria as laid out in this advertisement are eligible to apply for the advertised positions

Marks in GATE 2020:

  • Candidates have to essentially qualify in the GATE-2020 examination in Chemical(GATE 2020 code: CH)/Civil (GATE 2020 code: CE) /Electrical (GATE 2020 code: EE)/ Mechanical (GATE 2020 code: ME)engineering disciplines in order to be eligible to apply for the advertised posts.
  • GATE marks of previous years (2019 or before) shall not be accepted.

Age Limit: Maximum 26 years as on 30th June 2020 for General and Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) category candidates. Relaxation in upper age limit for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD)candidates will be applicable against reserved posts as per the Presidential Directives as below:

Educational Qualification and Degree:

a) The candidate should have completed Full-time Bachelor Degree in Engineering (B.Tech. /BE. /Equivalent) in Chemical/ Civil/ Electrical/ Mechanical from Institutions/ Colleges/ Universities/ Deemed Universities duly recognized by AICTE/UGC.

b) Candidates currently in the final year of their engineering studies may also apply. However, if selected, they should be in a position to submit their final mark sheet by 31st August 2020.

c) Candidates who have completed/are pursuing Bachelor Degree in Engineering in any one of the following engineering disciplines are eligible to apply for the advertised positions :

i. Chemical Engineering (including Petrochemicals/Polymer/ Plastic Engineering but excluding Rubber/ Oil/ Paint Technology/ Surfactant Technology/Ceramics Engineering etc)

ii. Civil Engineering (excluding Construction /Environmental/Transportation Engineering etc.)

iii. Electrical Engineering (including Electrical & Electronics engineering but excluding Electrical & Communication/ Power Engineering/ Telecommunication Engineering etc.)

iv. Mechanical Engineering (excluding Automation/ Bio-medical Engineering/ Automobile/ Industrial/ Manufacturing/ Power/ Production Engineering/ Mining Engineering & Technology, Mining & Machinery/Marine Engineering/ Textile Engineering/ Robotics/ Welding etc.)

d) Candidates pursuing/completed their graduation (BE/B.Tech) in combined/ integrated disciplines/ inter-disciplinary subjects like Mechatronics/ Robotics etc will not be eligible

e) Above mentioned inclusions/exclusions in the engineering streams are indicative and not descriptive. The Corporation reserves the right to take a final decision on considering/not considering a program beyond the above-mentioned engineering disciplines.

Minimum Marks in Qualifying Examination:

a) Candidates should have secured following minimum marks in qualifying degree examination:

b) Percentage (%) of marks obtained by the candidate in BE/ B.Tech/ Equivalent will be reckoned to decide the eligibility towards meeting the above criteria. Calculation of the percentage of marks in the qualifying degree would be governed by institute/university rules.

c) Wherever final marks have been awarded as a letter grade (CGPA/GPI/SGPA etc), the candidate shall calculate the equivalent percentage of marks as per conversion formula adopted by respective institute/university. Such candidates would be required to submit the conversion certificate to this effect at the time of Personal Interview if shortlisted.

Candidates pursuing Integrated course / Dual Course / PG Courses:

a) Candidates pursuing/ completed M.Techin any discipline, other than those mentioned above, for being eligible, must have completed BE/ B.Tech in one of the relevant mentioned disciplines and must have appeared in GATE-2020 examination in the respective discipline of their BE/ B.Tech,
Example:
If a candidate has completed (or is pursuing) his/her M.Tech in Power Systems and if he/she has done his/her BE/B. Tech in Electrical Engineering (which is one of the core disciplines advertised by Indian Oil), he/she will be eligible to apply, only if he/she has a appeared in GATE –2020 in Electrical Engineering discipline and has qualified in GATE 2020examination.

b) Integrated ME/ M.Techcandidates will be eligible, only if they have already completed (or are completing) the course requirement for the award of BE/ B.Tech in one of the disciplines advertised above and have completed (or are completing ME/ M.Tech by August 2020). At the end of the program, if selected in Indian Oil, such candidates must have both BE/B. Tech and ME/M.Tech degree.

c) If a candidate pursues integrated ME/M. Tech Programs and is awarded two separate degrees i.e. BE/B. Tech and ME/M. Tech, then the % of marks/CGPA obtained by the candidates in BE/BTech will be considered to determine the eligibility of the candidate.d)If a single degree i.e. ME/M. Tech is awarded to the candidate at the end of integrated ME/M. Tech program, then the consolidated marks obtained by the candidate at the end of the integrated ME/M Tech program will be reckoned for deciding eligibility.

d) If a single degree i.e. ME/M. Tech is awarded to the candidate at the end of integrated ME/M. Tech program, then the consolidated marks obtained by the candidate at the end of the integrated ME/M Tech program will be reckoned for deciding eligibility.

Concessions/ Relaxations to Reserved Category Candidates

Reservation of posts for candidates from SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/ PwBD and EWS will be made as per the directives of the Government of India. Candidates belonging to ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD/EWS should have a valid certificate in support of their claim to be eligible for claiming reservation under the respective category.

a)For getting the benefits of reservation under the OBC category:

i. The name of caste and community of the candidate must appear in the ‘Central list of Other Backward Classes’

ii. The candidates must not belong to the creamy layer. Candidates belonging to OBC category, but falling in the creamy layer, will not be entitled to the benefit of reservation and should apply as General Category candidate

iii. The candidates need to furnish their latest OBC certificate as per the format prescribed by the Government of India and it must not be more than 6 months old.

b) For getting the benefits of reservation under the EWSs category:

i. Should not be covered under the scheme of reservation for SCs, STs, and OBCs and whose family has a gross annual income below Rs 8.00 lakhs (Rupees Eight lakhs only). Income shall also include income from all sources i.e. salary, agriculture, business, profession, etc. for the financial year prior to the year of application.

ii. Also, persons whose family owns or possesses any of the following assets shall be excluded from being identified as EWS, irrespective of the family income: -5 acres of agricultural land and above; Residential flat of 1000 sq ft. and above; Residential plot of 100 sq. yards and above in notified municipalities; Residential plot of 200 sq. yards and above in areas other than the notified municipalities.

iii. The property held by a “Family” in different locations or different places/cities would be clubbed while applying the land or property holding test to determine EWS status.

iv. The term “Family” for this purpose will include the person who seeks the benefit of reservation, his/her parents, and siblings below the age of 18 years as also his/her spouse and children below the age of 18 years.

v. The benefit of reservation under EWS can be availed upon the production of an Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority. The Income and Asset Certificate issued by any one of the following authorities in the prescribed format shall only be accepted as proof of candidate’s claim as belonging to EWS :

  • District Magistrate/ Additional District Magistrate/ Collector/ Deputy Commissioner/ Additional Deputy Commissioner/1st Class Stipendary Magistrate/ Sub-Divisional Magistrate/ Taluka Magistrate/ Executive Magistrate/ Extra Assistant Commissioner
  • Chief Presidency Magistrate/ Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate / Presidency Magistrate
  • Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar and
  • Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and/or his family normally resides.

vi. The crucial date for submitting income and asset certificate by the candidate may be treated as the closing date for receipt of an application for the post, except in cases where the crucial date is fixed otherwise.

Shortlisting Procedure

a) Candidates have to essentially qualify in GATE-2020 in the relevant discipline to be eligible for shortlisting for Personal Interview (PI) &Group Discussion (GD)/ Group Task (GT).

b) Eligible candidates will be shortlisted based on marks obtained by them in GATE-2020in respective discipline for further selection process consisting of PI and GD/GT.

c) Short-listing will be based on the merit of the candidates from different categories in line with the reservation policy of the Government of India. Hence, merely qualifying in the GATE-2020 examination does not guarantee shortlisting for GD/GT and Personal Interview.

 

Selection:

The selection methodology for Engineers and GAEs will be as under:

a) Only GATE 2020 marks of the candidate in the relevant Engineering disciplines is valid for this recruitment exercise under this advertisement. Marks from GATE-2019 or from previous year GATE examinations is not valid.

b) Graduate Engineers from the relevant Engineering disciplines, desirous of taking up a career with IndianOilshould have appeared in GATE 2020 from the same discipline in which they have pursued their engineering in BE/B.Tech/Equivalent.

c) Candidate has to essentially qualify in GATE –2020 examination to be eligible for getting shortlisted for PI and GD/GT.

d) On the basis of GATE-2020 marks, the candidates will be shortlisted for further selection process comprising of the following for assessment of different facets of candidate’s knowledge, skills, competencies, etc.:
i. Group Discussion (GD)/Group Task (GT)
ii. Personal Interview (PI)

e) Candidates will have to separately qualify in Group Discussion (GD)/Group Task(GT) and Personal Interview (PI) successfully to be eligible for merit listing.

f) Final Merit List will be prepared based on the consolidated marks scored by the candidate in the following:
i.GATE-2020marks
ii.GD/GT
iii.PI
Merit will be prepared category-wise for each discipline.

 

Nature of Job (Indicative):

Candidates selected as Engineers/ Officers may be posted in one of the divisions of Indian Oil –Refineries, Marketing, Pipelines, and Business Development or in Corporate functions, eg., Information Systems, Optimization, or in Subsidiary/Joint Venture companies.

a) In Refineries Division, based on qualification, may be posted in engineering services, process, production, projects, power plant, maintenance, inspection or in any other discipline as per organizational requirement

b) In Marketing Division, may be posted in Aviation Services, Engineering, Operations, LPG, Lubes, Maintenance & Inspection, Sales and Marketing, Technical Services or in any other discipline as per organizational requirement

c) In Pipelines Division, may be posted in operations and maintenance, construction, projects or in any other discipline as per organizational requirement

d) In Business Development, it may be posted in petrochemicals & polymer projects, operations, sales/marketing, gas, renewable energy & sustainable development or in any other discipline as per organizational requirement.

 

Remuneration:

a) Candidates selected as Engineers/Officers will receive a starting basic pay ofRs. 50,000/-per month. In addition, the selected candidates will receive Dearness Allowance (DA) and other allowances, according to the rules of the Corporation in force, and as amended from time to time.

b) Other allowances /benefits include HRA/subsidized housing accommodation (depending upon place of posting), medical facilities, gratuity, contributory provident fund, employees’ pension scheme, group personal accident insurance scheme, leave encashment, leave travel concession (LTC)/ LFA, contributory superannuation benefit fund scheme, conveyance advance/ maintenance reimbursement, performance-related pay(PRP), etc as per rules of the corporation.

c) The gross valuation of remuneration to the company will be about Rs. 15.10 Lakhs per annum inclusive of performance-related pay (PRP). The actual remuneration may vary depending on the place of posting, the financial performance of the Corporation, and also the performance rating of individuals.

Service Bond:

Selected candidates will have to execute a bond as under to serve the Corporation for a minimum period of three years from the date of joining the corporation:

b) Candidate must have a valid email id and mobile number, both active for a minimum of one year from the date of registration. Communications to the candidate will be sent on this email-id/mobile no.

c) Candidate must read the advertisement carefully and check their eligibility before proceeding to apply.

d) The relevant link to apply ONLINE is available on the Indian Oil’s website www.iocl.comCandidates should click on the online application link, read the instructions carefully and fill-in the ONLINE application form giving accurate information including the GATE2020 registration number.

e) Prior to applying ONLINE, the candidate should have the following inputs ready for uploading/filling on the ONLINE portal:

  • GATE 2020 registration number and GATE 2020 MarksCard
  • Scanned copy of Color Passport Size Photograph which was used to register for GATE 2020. If the candidate is called for PI, then the identity of the candidate shall be established with GATE-2020 Admit and Marks Cards.
  • Scanned copy of Signature
  • Aadhar Card
  • Additionally, the candidates should have the relevant documents like percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination, caste/sub-caste certificate, date of issue, name of issuing authority, state of origin, etc. readily available with them before they commence the ONLINE application process. This information will be required at the time of filling-in the ONLINE application.

f) Candidates are advised to fill their GATE-2020Registration number, category (Gen/EWS/OBC(NCL)/SC/ST/PwBD), qualification details etc.in the Online application form very carefully. Candidates will not be allowed to change their particulars after submitting of the On-line application and no request in this regard will be entertained subsequently.

g) Candidates must ensure that they fill in the correct GATE2020Registration Number in the ONLINE application form. Candidate’sName, Father’s Name, Discipline, and Marks (out of 100) will be auto-filled based upon his/herGATE-2020registration number.

h) Candidates must note that GATE-2020marks and relevant personal details of the candidates are auto –retrieved from the database provided by the GATE authorities through a software and therefore any wrong entry in GATE –2020 registration no. by the candidate may result in a mismatch, thus resulting in non-retrieval of candidate details successfully. Hence due care needs to be taken by the candidate while entering GATE –2020 registration number in the on-line application form.

i) It may be noted that IOCL does not carry out any manual intervention to correct any mistake committed by the candidate in filling-in the GATE registration number while applying on-line in Indian Oil.

j) Wherever final marks have been awarded as a letter grade (CGPA/GPI/SGPA etc), the candidate shall calculate the equivalent percentage of marks as per conversion formula adopted by respective institute/university. Such candidates would be required to submit the conversion certificate to this effect at the time of Personal Interview, if shortlisted.

k) After filling up the ONLINE application form in all respect, and being satisfied that all the entries are correct, the candidate should submit the online application by clicking the submit button. If the online application is submitted successfully, the system will generate a unique application ID along with the completed application form

l) Candidate should take a print out of ONLINE application and keep it with him/ her safely for future reference. Candidates need not send this printout to any office of IndianOil.

m) Candidates presently employed in Government Departments / PSUs / Autonomous Bodies will need to submit NOC from competent authority of their current employer at the time of interview.

n) Candidature of the candidates not found meeting the prescribed eligibility criteria shall be rejected at any stage of the selection process.

o) Candidature of the candidate submitting false/ incorrect information shall be rejected at any stage of the selection process.
